Re KEL34.

I think I posted the KEL34 text in .pdf form a few days ago, part I and II. October and November 1998 WAD articles by Lucas/Devon. Also, I posted Lucas/Marks upgrade articles with Ei output trafos.

Regards, Wiesiek

Update

There has been a good response so far regarding amplifier instructions. In contrast, nothing new on speakers which is a bit disappointing.

Please, if anyone reading this has any of the kit build instructions for the outstanding kits on the lists please PM me or leave a message in this thread.

Revised WANTED amplifier instruction list.

Hi-FI World and World Audio Design Amplifier VA4-36S/E. Mullard 5-20 mono-blocs.
KLP1. Line level pre-amp.
K6080. Simple SE amp.
RIAA Phono Head amp.
Class A Solid State 36W mono-blocs.
K6L6.
KEL34 with toroidal O/P transformers.
KEL34 with E/I O/P transformers. (NOTE. I HAVE THE DIAGRAMS. STILL REQUIRE THE TEXT)
300B Push Pull mono-blocs.
KiT/KaT34.

Thanks,

Greg

There appears to be some confusion over what instructions I am collating here on behalf of WD. What I am after is the instruction sheets that accompanied complete kits originally bought from WAD. I do not need copies of the Hi-FI World DIY Supplement articles. These are widely available, in fact you can buy a CD-R of all these articles from WD.

The instruction sheets that accompanied the kits although very similar to the original supplement articles, often contained updates or amendments that were never published, even as an addendum in the supplement. By way of example, the KLS3 Mk1 speaker kit had a completely different crossover to that originally published. Consequently, KLS3 builds based on the magazine article only were incorrect and resulted in a poor sound. With the correct Mk1 crossover, KLS3 sounded good.

The lists as published above remain current. I am still seeking kit instructions for all kits listed. These instructions were for some reason never retained. Therefore we are dependent on the good will of owners to help complete this library archive. Please, if you can assist, post here or send me a PM.

Thank you.

Greg, would it be worth contacting Peter C, or even Nick Lucas. BOB

Hi Bob,

I already have the little that Peter had and I know the history so there is no value in contacting Nick Lucas. I believe any archive files including customer details were destroyed at the time Hi-FI World sold WAD on. At the time it was a bit of a crisis that had to be sorted out hurriedly, so along with loads of spare components etc, much just went in the skip

In recent correspondence with Chris, who forwarded me his copy of the KLS10 build instructions, I have learnt that in some cases, WAD did supply kits with a straight copy of the supplement articles for the build instructions. That is helpful to know except at present, I don't know (apart from KLS10) when they did or didn't do this.

Anyway, progress is being made. I'll post an updated list later.
