Re: Garrard 401/301 Tips and Tricks
Got my SME 3012 back from Audio Origami , with silver/teflon internal wiring and balanced 5mm overall outer wiring . Hopefully will have it running tonight on the 401 , with the Denono 103 . I'm going back to a simple , slightly reduced mains of 220 to 230 V AC on the Garrard for now . Wait to see if others find the alternative supplies any better .

Re: Garrard 401/301 Tips and Tricks
Wow !
Re. 3012 - It's changed a lot - much more extended . Sounded a bit rough and grey at times in the first few minutes ; but improved a lot in the hour I was listening . Need to get the set-up tweaked a bit more - didn't have the anti-skate fitted - there's a job for when I get home . The 401 with about 230v is definitely a good notch above the Hyperspace on timing and bass quality . Tone subtlety suffers in comparison so far, but this arm may help that significantly . I still think some sort of more sophisticated platter, eg. a Nottingham 'heavy kit' mounted onto the Garrard platter , with an upgraded thrust bearing, may be the ultimate option . More soon, Mark |
