Upgraded my 8.1 NVA media server to 10 last night. Took a while but worked a treat. I swear films look better than they did before, and the pooter is much faster.

Can’t install my firewall my backup software now Google is dead links don’t work anymore It seems I have to use an app which I have to create a Microsoft outlook email account to use it nothanks

If MS want me to use their software then this is the wrong way to go about it I want that choice to be mine not ****ing Microshits

Jeez what a carry on with this windows 10 **** last nights problems seem to be working again?
My password manager is not working though it won’t auto login but works if I cut and pasta kind of defeats the idea of a password manager anyway

This site may be of help to check software compatibility for windows 10 home just enter the software name in the search box

Well windows 10 has been out a wee while now how are you all getting on with it or have you not bothered to upgrade it yet

I have it on one PC which I left disconnected out of the system for a couple months I ran it over the week end and it now seems to work better after some updates. trouble is I have to turn buttons on I don’t want on to make it work and I still don’t like the looks of it but that's just me

Hi Col,

That's a coincidence I'm sat here just about to update this Win8.1 desktop to Win10 this afternoon.
I did it to a laptop a few weeks ago and all our stuff works ok. I don'r see much advantage but it's free at the moment and is likely to be supported for longer so I may as well do it while I have time.

Question; what are you all using for anti-virus these days? We've been using AVG Free but I went with Windows Defender on the laptop as AVG seem to be getting more intrusive. Has Defender come of age and is it any good now?

Hi Richard
I use Zonealarm Virus and firewall on windows 7 but windows 10 will not let me install it this is what I do not like about 10 as its software I paid for
It
seems Microsoft want us to use their stuff only
Not much help but I don’t trust Windows defender or windows firewall but seems we have no chose but too use it

I've just updated a new (secondhand) PC to W10.

To be honest I installed AVG to the W7 before I did the upgrade, but I'm happy to delete it now and let Defender take over.

This "new" computer is a bargain buy, originally purchased as a ready to use replacement should the main one fail.

It may yet find use as the host for my music files together with Vortex-box software to rip all my CDs.
