Other than the reasons given Greg, I think its worth trying Mozilla just to see if that has the same problem with the look and feel of the site. If it does, then we can stop blaming IE, if it works, thats at least some clues as to the problem.

And there is no down side, after you have finished, you can just remove it if you want.

I have had a quick look about, IE, is clearly working differently to mozilla, when I change the skin in use. AFAIKS, the skin setting is saved on the server against the current userid, but I think the setting that the server uses to decide what to display is set by reading the wdsessionhash cookie. Changing the selection, updates the cookie, but on IE, it seems to be forgetting the cookie everytime the page is changed.

Hi Nick,

What you have found with IE seems to confirm my findings. Although my user CP options is selected to Bulletin, on log in it always opens in silver bullet. The simple although not perfect solution is to scroll the the bottom of the page and change the skin tab (which does here show silver bullet) to bulletin and the blue pages remain as I surf the site. My ISP is Telewest Blueyonder broadband.

Philip, Norton Internet Security covers all anti virus and spyware applications.

I'm happy to try Mozilla but my concern is that having it's own anti virus, it will run into conflict with Norton. Past experience is that more than one anti virus system operating on the same PC will fight each other and cause speed and other problems. I suspect I'd have to disable Norton which really I don't want to do as I find it completely reliable.

Greg, Mozilla, does not have its own Anti-Virus, you can still get a virus while using it, its just it doesn't implement some of the MS "additions" that make it easyier for virus writers to get in via the browser, ActiveX controls, that sort of thing.

Sorry I may have confused the issue here.

As Nick has stated Mozilla doesn't have any anti virus installed.

It's just that I don't use any antivirus measures anymore as I found Mozilla doesn't seem to be such a target for the virus writers.
Most viruses are aimed at IE and Outlook express as it downloads emails to your computer making it easy for such programs to install themselves.
Gmail is web based, as such you are viewing a web page when reading your email. So, little chance for the virus here.

As a fail safe I use disk image backup and recovery. If I get any problems, and there are more than just viruses to consider, I simply re-install from a previous backup disk image that is taken weekly in my case. You can set this as you wish such as daily.

Because my email is web bassed, non of it is lost because it is not on my computer in the first place.

I have both IE and Mozilla on my computer, but only really use Mozilla. IE is there if needed and can be called up at will.

Ok, I've downloaded Mozilla and it works fine. I don't see the advantage over IE. It actually seems slower.....I'm using it now as I post. My problem is duplicated in Mozilla......absolutely no difference.

My computer guru, James came around tonight and played around with it. He could not find a solution but did analyse a bit more.

It makes no difference whether I remain logged in and navigate away or log out completely. On re-entry to the site, although bullitin is my default, silver bullit is always displayed. Interestingly, whilst in bulletin and constructing a message reply, if that reply takes a while to complete, on submitting it, I'll find I've been banged back to silver bullet. We identified the bulletin cooky as wdstyleido4. The silver bullet cooky is wdstyleido6. Regardless of whether I navigate away whilst logged on or log out, on return, silver bullet is displayed. Everytime, the bulletin cooky was deleted and over-written by the silver bullet cooky. We even tried making the bulletin cooky 'read only'. All that happened was that it was ignored and a new silver bullet cooky was written.

The conclusion is that this is not a problem with my PC and probably not an issue with my ISP and the problem is with the server (It certainly only developed after Peter had revised the WD homepage etc). Having said that, my confusion is that no-one else is expressing the same problem.

Try creating a new user, and see if the same thing happens there, or if its something odd about your account setup. Or if you want to avoid an extra user, let me know, I will PM my BB password, and you can see if being me has the same results on your PC.

I think that this cookie is being stored somewhere else on your system or server. That it coincides with me making changes to the homepage suggests that something happened on your system when your browser refreshed the pages for the world-designs domain. I would expect this is because the links to the forum and catalogue changed from a partial address to a full address. This could have forced cookie storage to a new area - folder - temporary internet store on your computer or server.

All forum cookies start with 'wd' to make them easier to find. If you enable 'show hidden folders' in explorer (Tools, Folder Options, View) and then search for the cookies you should be able to delete them. Quite why the standard IE 'delete cookies' method doesn't work is an unknown.

I have also reset the links on the homepages back to the relative domain address so this may be all that is necessary to 'cure' your problem!
