Re-reading the instructions for my Pre 3 i see that the gain could be 6X or 12X.

The instructions seem to suggest that 6X was the norm but i cant see any mention of an alternative wiring setup.

Just need to check as (if possible) it would be nice to REDUCE the gain on mine.

PS i did find the wiring details after a second read and 6X is the "default" setting. Bother !!

Hi Philip,

As standard Pre3 has x6 gain = +15dB.

Check the second part of the shunt pot faq, "Using Veroboard....." where it gives values to reduce input sensitivity by -5dB, -10dB, -15dB and -20dB from this +15dB level,

I am using a shunted stepper at the moment but a shunted Alps is on the horizon.
