Cool Re: first Record you bought (could be Embarising)

Well, I'm not sure why it should be embarassing.

10" 78 of Buttons and Bows by Dinah Shore. This must have been about 1949.

Richard.

Come to think of it, it is shamefully embarassing! I should have been less honest and said Scarlatti Sonata Nr 56/Dinu Lipatti.

Yeah, I have a recording of me and my sister reciting nursery rhymes encouraged by my dad. I think the machine was at Heathrow Airport.

Doesn't one of them feature in the film "Brighton Rock"?

Readers digest boxed set of LP's the seekers,a world of their own.

bought late 60s and still enjoy playing them.i think i had a crush on Judith Durham.

i hate readers digest but they did do some lovely boxed sets of LP's.

I was given in 1972 when I was 7, 'Gypsy's, tramps and thieves' - cher, 'Tears of a clown' Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and 'Hot Love' by Marc Bolan/T.Rex by my bestest Cousin. That got me bitten by the bug but my Mum loved Trad jazz, pop and Rock music and bought herself singles before that while dad was into non-chordal modern Jazz (!?) like Tubby Hayes and Gerry Muligan.

In 1973 I bought (for 45p) 'I love you love me love' by Gary Glitter and the Glitter band and then the flood gates were fully open.

First 12" LP was 'Everyone plays Darts' by Doo-wop revivalists The Darts.

Still got all my vinyl.

The 1st music 45 I bought was Eric Clapton "Bad Love".

Previously I had bought a Worzel Gummidge story on a 45 rpm floppy see through record, attached to the Worzel Gummidge comic!

Eric ......yawn

They should bring Worzel back.

A 'single' on Embassy label - Z Cars theme

quickly followed by LP - The Firebird.

I wonder, is any of this significant???
