Very much so, the fiasco of energyu efficiency which made Anthony look like a big shot on the World Stage, and maybe helped gather a few stray votes from the greens has ensured a massive manufacturing effort which consumes far more fossil fuel and polutes the envirnonment far more than the older simpler boilers would have in decades of normal domestic use, polus the fact you are all going to have to get used to writing your boilers off every 10 years or having e very good relationship with your repair guy (best get him a key cut). Who am I to complain, it's great for the industry!

The country can't really afford to be green, the economy would collapse. The trick is to pretend you are green and in the process prop up manufacturing. Hide where all the polution is coming from by blaming domestic central heating.

I find organic music sounds best if you have a Buderus boiler (to keep it on topic), Greenday fans would probably find a Biasi more to their taste.

we have a circa 1977 camray oil boiler (no gas in the sticks)> Apart from the horrendous cost of Kerosene, (but thats not looking so bad with the increases in electircity and gas) It just runs and runs and the engineer seems to keep it going with a regualar service and replacement of a cheap part.
Which I hope brings me back on topic...................... An Old (Or New) Valve amp can be kept running in much the same way as its nice and simple (one hopes) to replace/renovate/improve/repair as parts get worn out. Oh and we get a superior sonic experience too.
To the chap who suggested an integrated kit with built in phono stage, I can see your point, but it would make the kit a bit too specialised. As to cost, the old WAD phono2 was as cheap as a half decent solid state stage. I was disappointed to be unable to obtain one as it was exactly at the time last year they disappeared when I was about to plonk pound notes down on their table for one. I eneded up buying a second hand EAR 834 with the MC transformers in it. Its a very nice piece of kit but I doubt it sounds any better than the WAD design would have.
I'm now investigating knocking up a pair of homebrew 2A3 monoblocs with the aid of a knowledgeable friend.
mm yes 2A3 P/P power amps now theres a kit I might consider buying. If the transformer Iron was good.
I have had very pleasing results with 12B4A's in a simple line stage. So simple yet the sound quality is very good. Makes the old Leak Stereo20 sound very good indeed.
