Martin seems to be lucky, he has no hum, if he tries different tubes and still has no hum then the old adage applies - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

yes we have no hum today, the tubes are Tung Sol Russian and the other is no named but believe it’s a Telefunken. They are not the stock supplied ones

As to the volume yes it is not good, but has a very small window from low to high but some minimal control. Definitely a candidate for change first, when I can get in to check it and then disconnect the pre circuit and use the “out” as a feed thro.

But for now just let it settle down and enjoy the music for a day or so as you say let’s get to know it first.
