Re: what are you listening to now
Oh sod it if you can't beat 'em baffle 'em. Forgive me if spelling wrong
Umpa lumpa, Floyd. Schmielson a touch of or a little of or something like that. Carpenters singles (sad or what?) Portrait of Jenny, Galespie and plenty of thud click thud clicks because I have to mountaineer over the high voltages to reach the target wall mount. Wouldn't allow a radio or digital source in the room.

Re: what are you listening to now
OK I'm having a Jazz'n'soul day today. Haven't done that for a while.
At the moment I'm listening to: The Best of Billy Larkin & the Delegates - Stateside CD It's full of foxy organ grooves and soul brothers hootn & hollerin A lovely sixties recording too with plenty of shimmering ride cymbals and swinging rhythms. Just dig those high register bass effects on "Cristo Redentor". Cool baby cool. Later on it'll be A Cellarful of Motown volume 2 - Motown double CD Recently discovered stuff from the vaults of Hitsville USA. Variable recording quality but superb. All the Motown regulars are there singing things you've not heard before plus artist you have never heard of or will hear of again. Most labels in the sixties would have given their right arm for the stuff that Berry Gordy rejected. Stunning. Yeah baby! Steve Last edited by The Shadow; 8th January 2006 at 01:10 PM. |

Re: what are you listening to now
Is it Sadle soap by tanned leather? Or Tanned Leather by Sadle Soap? Or is it two pieces of music called Sadle Soap and Tanned Leather? I haven't heard of either be they bands or tracks or lp's.
Very narry topic of conversation I must say, hope it gets expanded by someone with a brain!

Re: what are you listening to now
Sibelius - Kullervo Symphony, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra/Paavo Berglund.
Interesting recording of the first major work of the young Sibelius. He himself refused to allow this to be called his 'First' symphony, considering it a folly of youth. It is, however, musically inventive, recognisably the work of Sibelius and well worth a listen. EMI SLS 807/2 (vinyl) (ON-topic with additional program notes! Is everybody happy?) Mark |

Re: what are you listening to now
Supertramp! Not heard it in years, sounds just great on the Lenco!
Queen - The works, very clean production! Nanci Griffith - Late Night Grande Hotel, some nice emotive tracks to test the Lenco / SL120 |
