Default Re: WD Class D Amps?

As always the key to using any amplification device or circuit is not in the 'goodness' of the component itself but in the way it is implemented.

The project we are working on is dedicated to producing the best possible results from the Hypex modules which, in themselves, show a lot of promise.

The interesting aspect for us is that, whilst there is no doubt that valves are far superior to transistors as analogue amplifiers, transistors are very good as switching devices. So, if you want to use solid state because of efficiency/size/power a hybrid Class D is the way to do it. More details will be available on this concept when we bring out the kit.

I look forward to reading about these Peter.

I will keep my plastic friend beneath it's credit limit in preparation.

Any chance of working prototypes being demoed in up & coming shows?

I might even sign out for an evening class in electronics to add in some extra pride of ownership.

Michael

Looking forward to the info too Peter.
As I am about to retire my ageing Crown DC300a amps.
Hope these Hypex modules are as good as I have heard.

I don't understand !

What needs to be done with these "modules" apart from connecting up to a transformer and wiring in input and output sockets ?

If you want some "nice" boxes to put them in try this Italian company.

I recently ordered a couple for myself and was impressed with the quality, and price.

Me too! If you opt for the thick aluminium front plate and use a WD chrome knob for an on/off switch and a small chrome LED bezel they are a pretty good cosmetic match for WD series 2 gear

I have had a look at the italian site mentioned and have thought about my own build but a kit would be easier for me. I am not sure if there are complete schematics out there for monoblock hypex amps that are tried and tested.Built some valve amps etc but always from kits .Hypex type kit looks simple enough though.
