Well, on the other hand, if you were gliding a lovely lady in truely romantic fashion in a punt along the Cambridge canals, your hopeful expectations would set aside the term 'punter' as a total irrelevance, don't you think?

More likely everyone would be laughing at me left hanging onto the pole while the punt floated away.

So I'd be a silly punt (er).

Oops. When I posed the question I was looking to support Dave and his team not provide a base for WD bashing. I rang Dave today, got through straight away and placed my order for phono stage all very smooth and professional. He is a business man as am I and having had a chat with him his reasoning seemed sound and I was reassured that his approach would result in a stronger business longer term. He is focussing on not over promising and making sure quality is right. Clearly if there are customers who expect shipment of product straight away then there will be an issue but WD are in transition and will be for a while. Give Dave and his team some slack. However customer feedback is key and part of my thinking in asking the original question was to give a space for feedback so I have to respect all those who bother to express their views and am sorry to hear your experiences did not mirror mine. I should add Dave told me up front he would not be shipping immediately as he has to test the latest product batch before he is prepared to let them go. I am happy customer and was reassured by Dave's professional approach.

Immediate short term plans appear to be to reintroduce product carefully as all stocks had been depleted anyway. The approach is to source from quality suppliers, and it seems incorporate mods into the products now with all that entails (testing etc). This means the shelves are not going to fill up quickly so if you want stuff tomorrow you may well be disappointed. However if like me you want the proven WD designs and quality plus what in the past I have found to be fantastic support from WD and the forums then you are in luck as Dave has come to the rescue. He did explain to me that his presence on the forum is limited at the moment as he has get to get the business back on it's feet.

All IMHO and all views valid as perception is after all everything but I have never spent a more worthwhile sum than when I bought my WAD amp and am hoping I will be saying he same in 10 years time with this recent purchase.

I do agree though that Dave could have a bit more of a "presence" on the Forum.

For example, the fact he made no comment on Revolis post did surprise me.

I sent Dave a PM a while ago asking about a specific item and he did not even have the common courtesy to reply. To me, that is rude.
He was not being rude just technically blind as apparently had not discovered PM's. I suspect you picked that up by now. I also PM'd him to place an order which I too was disappointed not to get reply to but rather than condemning him I picked up the phone and am glad I did as found him very professional and felt could do business with him.

Gentlemen,
I think you need to bear in mind that Dave has other businesses to run besides this one

Yep about a month ago or something like that just trying to help Dave out I seem to have a knack of finding and fixing the broken links on here after the server change
Which suggests I spend too much time on my Computer me thinks So Dave upgraded me to Moderator status

Indeed. I bought my turntable from Dave 18 months or so ago via his "Soundhifi" company, and it was a pleasure doing business with him- excellent price, good communication, great service. I have full faith that Dave will steer WD onto a steady, solid path.
