Re: Gyro Tweaks
Agreed, agreed, agreed, but when I find an arm / cartridge does track the HiFiNews test LP I stil worry,'surely it can't be right! surely itis carving out all sorts of new grooves in my precious plastic'
so I finally (yes, finally) bought some scales. - what was I tracking at? - Well, the huge fun and joy I have had with Hadcock meant that is where I should start. I set the 'force' at what I thought was 3 grams. (Denon 103) The cantilver did not sink andnor did the arm seem ready to skate all over the place. HiiFiNewsLP says fine and then I tried the scales... 3 grams. Okay I was lucky. wonder if I can guess 1 gram (e.g. shure v15) |

Re: Gyro Tweaks
Which test record do you prefer? I'm using HFS69, which I suspect is pretty undemanding since my home-brew unipivot/Denon 304 sails through it with no bias atall.

Re: Gyro Tweaks
HFS75
HFN001 & a lovely old American lp; Record Review Test Record with quite a few sweep frequencies and long single tones that can rather nicely show up how stable you think the (direct drive) turntable is. |

Re: 103
Andrew
I recently found my 103 tracks better at 2.2 g than at 2.5 g - sounds better on the inner tracks . ..and less likely to wear out the music . Mark |
