Thanks James, drawings and pics recieved and understood. Looks practical enough to make from my perspex(tive). However minimum thickness for dimensional stability would be a minimum of 8mm thk acrylic (10mm would be
ideal as long as the vibration absorbtion through the material did not distort any of the audio frequencies) I suppose its a case of trial and error for the discerning ear but what would help is not to oven form the acrylic but to line bend, i think the best effect is to maintain the straight lines between the angles to create as flat a surface as possible to mount the speaker driver units. The side panels can be bonded with clear UV resin and the edges polished to finish the enclosure. Incidentally the specific gravity of acrylic is 1.19 if you wish to calculate weight and any other contigious factors related to sound reproduction. Andy. |
