thanks Peter.. we all get used to what we are used to and usually prefer what we are used to.. I remeber once having a home trial with some french doped, quite hi eff. speakers, they had oval drivers and switchable tweeters..
can't remember what they where called?
they where before i got into lowthers.. but owned a few px4 valves...and was looking for more eff than the ns1000's i had
They where very, very coloured and sounded more lifelike with the tweeter unplugged.. I listened to them for a evening.
The colouration didn't seem half so bad after this time.. and was quite tempted to buy them....untill i plugged the yams back in..
But it just goes to show how easily you adapt to something.. the brains a clever thing ..
i have a large pair of EMI oval drivers from an old decca decola.. one day i may have a go at trying recreating that sound.. with every thing else i want to do ......
