Re: first Record you bought (could be Embarising)
First record I was ever given - Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas"
First two records I ever bought myself (same purchase so It's a dead heat) Mozart K6something or other which I played to death and Rolf Harris, title forgotten but it contained the classic "Sun Arise" voted by Rolling Stone as one of the reasons Rolf Harris rocks! (all those close miked didgeridoo low frequencies) I always said Rolf Harris should have been at the opening of the 2000 Sydney Olympics singing that - and blow me down the song WAS sung at the opening ceremony but not by him, they kept the artist list to Australians which of course he isn't. Re: first Record you bought (could be Embarising)
My very first records where bought from WH Smiths one christmas, I can recall having to wait for the shops to open to spend my crimbo money, unlike these days when Boxing day is just another shopping day, (glad I'm not a retail worker - you have my sympathies).
I bought 3 singles on that day, I think was in 1978. Rat Trap - Boomtown Rats, Promises - Buzzcocks, Lay your Love on me - Racey. I'm pretty sure that my first LP was It's Alive by the Ramones. |

showing my age,
Tennessee Ernie Ford, '16 tons' on a 78, followed on with little Richard and Elvis, I also hold my hands up to the theme from ITV's Robin Hood,

Re: first Record you bought (could be Embarising)
First given to me - "Stewpots choice", LP compiled by DJ Ed Stewart who used to do a children's request program, I think ????
Oh yeah and "Sparky's Magic Piano" !!! First I bought myself - 45 - "Love is Like Oxygen" / The Sweet 33 - "Permanent Waves" / Rush 11 years old, when I bought the latter IIRC. |

Re: first Record you bought (could be Embarising)
Top of the Pops - one of the ones where you had covers performed by sound-a-like performers.
First proper album was Diamond Dogs by David Bowie. Chris
