Thank-you Archie and Dr John

My paronoia only came from this being a first build (I did not know what to expect, and it is a bit louder than the Quad 44, but barely audible and does not in any way interfere with a stunning listening experience). Your reassurances have served to put me at ease (it's not my crappy soldering then).

Thanks, as always, for your helpful advice

Tom

I'm also interested to hear about black Stuart's active cooling. Hi-Fi in a fridge springs to mind

tomtidswell,
amongst others take a look at what Morgan Jones says about how heat affects resistors, capacitors and valves - their performance and longevity.

Remote fan assisted cooling - I can't use it living in an apartment block but I will when we move to France, it will be a part of the construction as will an air change system for us. A lot of health problems today are a direct result of well insulated modern homes which do not have an air change system and the crazy thing is, that with new build they are'nt so expensive to install and using 3W fans are cheap to operate.
