The masses couldn't be bothered about quality either. We are in a minority in the overall picture. That's how the industry gets away with all the things we moan about.... |

I get the feeling that we've identified the enemy and are just so used to pointing the finger that sometimes a good guy sneaks in and we miss the point, assuming its like all the rest.....

Re: Poll - Vinyl, CD, Squeezebox/MP3, Radio?
Hi Darren
I was just waffling about the fact that we are quick to criticise stuff that is not audiophile e.g hardy's critique of IPOD, when the real crux of the debate is that these products are not aimed at audiophiles but audiophiles still moan about them for not being audiophile quality...although in the case of the ipod it can turn in a reasonable audiophile performance... hope that made some sense.... sort of like ferrari man saying to punto man 'you shouldn't drive that, thats not driving, that gives cars a bad name' Ed mmmm even I'm losing the plot now....

Re: Poll - Vinyl, CD, Squeezebox/MP3, Radio?
Hi All
I have voted in the poll. I listen to vinyl most of all. My collection is on the old side. As a Louis Armstrong fan i find that his voice and trumpet sound better on vinyl than cd. The oldest in the collection is from 1947. It is the first time that Louis Armstrong and the All Stars played together, and it's live from Boston Symphony hall. You can hear the waiters asking people for their drink orders. Great natural sound. I have a cd walkman for when i want to listen to something that Davy does not want to hear! If i put the big cans on the walkman the sound is reasonable but not as realistic as the sound from the vinyl version.

Re: Poll - Vinyl, CD, Squeezebox/MP3, Radio?
Ah! SHE's in the bath,i get the computer back anyway i only really take exception to her Runrig albums I prefer vinyl to cd in most cases, the exception is with electronic music which i find usually suits a digital format better. Cd is improving though but so is vinyl, think i'll be using both for quite a while yet (hopefully).
Anyway i better shut up or dinner will be in the cats.

a nice outside aerial, a Creek tuner, and you have to go a long way to better an FM live broadcast.

Re: Poll - Vinyl, CD, Squeezebox/MP3, Radio?
Squeezbox (stored in flac / lossless, via Cyrus DACX) usually for convenience.
Prefer Vinyl but 70% of my music is now on CD. Quite a bit of my vinyl sort of got lost/disappeared over the years. While the kids were growing up & I sort of lost interest/didn't have the money (or time) for HIFI. |
