Ginko Biloba, it has been suggested, can help in flaccid hearing and that 'gentleman's complaint'. There is no serious clinical evidence to prove this so IMHO (getting the hang of this now) that it is gung ho bollocks.

Hi-as in the last post,i like the acronym GHB !

Is there anything that can improve hearing,and reduce tinnitus ?

I had my ears "done" by the nurse at my Doctors surgery yesterday and they don't use a syringe anymore,now its a pulsating "jet" of warm water that "massages" the wax out.

Now i can hear left and right channels clearly !!!

Getting rid of wax can be like buying a new HIFi (or, as we do, building a new super amp) - marvellous but temporary though as wax just builds up again.

DON'T try to hook itout yourself though. I've seen the nasty consequences of this too many times to even larff at the misfortunes of others.

If you have a sensori-neural heairng loss, and Philip, you are of an age when age related hearing loss is likely to be playing a part, there isn't really much you can do.

(OTOH, My father for example is severely deaf and is totally addicted to opera. He was a fine musician in his youth though and this is significant - we nearly got into this a few postings/weeks ago)

If you have loads of catarrh, allergy, blockages, your diet could help by cutting out dairy products and becoming a veggy. Um, this will prob. take a few years before you will notice a difference though.

Tinnitus? turn the music up - drown it out! Listen to the world service through the night. Otherwise, not much but it would take an essay to describe subtle things.

Is that a tip? Just a bit interested. I don't suffer from Tinnitus thankfully but do regularly go to bed with Radio 4 on which leads into the World Service and invariably I fall asleep whilst it remains transmitting through the night until I wake up around the time Radio 4 comes back.

I'd be interested in your reference to World service and why?

Simply, because the World Service goes on through the night and if you use it just above your threshold of hearing, if it is interesting you listen and if it isn't you drift off to sleep. Either way it distracts from the tinnitus.
