Re: Best Gig You've been to
Not necessarily the best, but certainly the last and up there with the greatest...
Last evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank. Oregan (Ralph Towner, Glen Moore, Paul MacCandless and Mark Walker) back in the UK for the first time since the early nineties. Anyone interested can hear a recording of the concert on the Late Junction, Radio 3 on Nov 20 at 22.15. They don't come any better! |

Re: Best Gig You've been to
Tricky....probably Ted Hawkins, maybe. Small intimate club in Newcastle (I forget the name) accompanied by his foot!!!..no ****. Lil' old black guy playin guitar while wearing a glove (!?) accompanying himself with his foot. Poor old fella died not long after.....
Or The Waterboys at Newcastle City Hall.... Both were a bit magical.... Or maybe the Ramones, or.....etc etc...

Re: Best Gig You've been to
Jeff Beck - Manchester Apollo - 1981.
Middle of the front row. Got the guitar slide too ! Jeff Beck was touring the "There And Back" album, with possibly one of the best line ups the Jeff Beck Group has had - Tony Hymas (Keys), Mo Foster (Bass) & Simon Phillips (Drums & human dynamo). Superb night. Chris |

He was big hit at the Cambridge Folk festivals in the mid 80's. Pity he only made a bit of dosh towards the end oh career wasn't it. I've got a couple of his LP's. DTB

Re: Best Gig You've been to
Just remembered that the Climax Blues Band were support for the Jeff Beck gig - they were spot on too !
As for the next best gig I've attended it's impossible to put them in order - Eric Bibb at Colne Municipal Hall, Keb' Mo' at the same venue, same with Buddy Guy, Robben Ford at The Ritz Ballroom, ZZ Top at Manchester Apollo........ I give up, there have been many great gigs and I enjoyed them all. I must start to get out a bit more and attend a few more performances. Chris |
