CD 63 any good for a dac marriage
Hi,
Anyone know if the Marantz cd63 is a good enough disc spinner to be used with a Chinese dac as recommended by some of you. I ask as I have had enough laser changing /swapping over the last couple of days to last a liftime. Two lasers from the UK not working, one from china working fine. One thrown in the bin after it was not working only to be retrieved to fit in a 63 to go back on Ebay and found to work ok now. So If I can get some suspension rubbers to go in the 63, I bought it not working for the rubbers, and it is ok to use as a transport, I may keep it to marry to a dac. A bit doubtful though about keeping a player based on the philips vam1202 laser, anyone know of a better laser setup, preferably in a Marantz. Help........please

Re: CD 63 any good for a dac marriage
Hi John,
I have one of those CD67SE's years ago, it worked well for a decade! It think the audio quailty you get using it as a transport ought to be bettered by a more modern player, as the jitter (clock accuracy) is better in the latest designs. I changed my CD67 for a new Marantz CD6004 recently, and even using it's built in DAC, it is more detailed and airy sounding than my '67 ever was. |
