Default Reclocking a Marantz CD 67 Help

Reclocking a Marantz CD 67 Help
Well as some of you already know I was planning to re clock my pioneer PD801 stable platter CD playerwith a audio com 16.9344 MHZ SUPERCLOCK 2 however it got sick and is not playing very well bummer

So turning to my other CD player i see that my Marantz CD67 uses the 16.9344 MHZ oscillator so looking to fit the supper clock 2 in this player And so would some guidance on installing it would you say the following info is correct
So first up we remove the oscillator XD01 and cap CD02/03 plus RDO2
THEN connect the superclock CLK to U209 and GND to CD02 See image

POWER 12VOLTS
Option 1 is taped of U267+12Volt and GND to U268 See Red/Black wire near Cap
Opion2 use a 12volt wall mart plug

Hi Colin,

Yes those clock connections looks spot on to me and very similar to CD40.

For power, the Superclock supply needs DC iirc so anywhere near to the biggest psu caps of the correct voltage DC rail would be suitable.

It will use very little current and if you can get it connected to big psu caps I definitely wouldn't bother with an offboard DC supply.

Hi Richard
Thanks
Yep a picture paints a thousand words as they say but I just wanted to be sure before taking parts out of the player I think this Marantz CD 67 is worth some more upgrades too this is the player I got cheap about five years ago from cash converters

which worked for about a week so I ended up buying a new laser for it only to discover when fitting the new one that the ribbon cable to the laser was not seated properly so I replaced with the new laser anyway but never used it much as I got the Arcam Alpha 6 CD player the same week so was using this instead

It wasn’t until recently when I got the EBay Dac that I discovered that the two players sound very similar through the dac so with the new laser in the 67 its go lots more life left in i hope so worth the time to do some more tweaks on I think

PS anyone got a copy of the Arcam Alpha 6 Service manual

If anyone was a Marantz 63/67 here’s an upgrade parts list

Ha something i over looked when thinking about this
I have just thought if your are using the CD player as a transport only veer the Coaxial socket through a external Dac is the internal DAC still in use with the new clock or is is bypassed if so not much point in adding the audio com supper clock unless I want to use the audio output

i think you are correct, the coaxial out is before the DAC .other- wise you would have DACs in series.. i have a CD only transport. and that has NO DAC in it

Yep just been looking at the schematic again so maybe not much point in adding the supper clock2 then as my external AK2496 eBay dac should sound better unless I add a FET or valve Buffer to the player
but hang on a minute I added a FET Buffer the EBay AK2496 Dac decisions a catch 22 problem I think on what’s the best way to go

Hi Colin,

Sign up to this website. http://www.hifi-manuals.com/

They have the Arcam Alpha 6 service manual for free download. It's also an excellent site for free downloads of numerous other product documents.

Hi Greg
Thank you for pointing me to that link looks very usefully
For some reason I keep thinking my Arcam is the Alpha 5 so I have that service manual but i have the alpha 6 so i couldn’t find the this manual i think there are same really apart from the Dac the 5 is a TDA 1542A and the 6s has a different Dac apart from that they identical
