KiT6550 OPTX
Whilst working on my 6550, I notice from the schematics that each output transformer should have two yellow wires which go to point A on the power supply. However, each of mine only has one. Does anybody know why and is it an issue?

Re: KiT6550 OPTX
Hi Tim,
Yes the original website photo does show 2 yellows from each OPTX. The build instructions page 9 Tagboard Layout shows "yellow wires x2 to tag CL12" on both OPTX and tag CL12 shows "yellow wires x4 from both o/p trans" So yours is probably a tidy up/change or a later TX supplier as there does not seem to be a need for 2 yellows if they do go to the TX primary centre point A as the circuit shows. |

Re: KiT6550 OPTX
Your pic shows 4R TXs. The amp is specified at 8R so yours will probably have been optional.
There's a thread here with TX numbers, http://forum.world-designs.co.uk/sho...former+numbers |

Thanks Richard.
It's a great sounding amp but becoming a bit like hi fi archeology. Nearly 20 years old now. |

Re: KiT6550 OPTX
I purchaced my KAT 6550 in about 2002, it only had one yellow wire from each transformer as did the 4 ohm (the 4 ohm was a option) still working good today in a freind's system. Bob
