WAD KLS3 tweeter
Hi all,
Does anybody know if it's still possible to get hold of the Audax TW025M1 tweeter (used in the WAD KLS3 and KLS4 loudspeaker) any more? I realise it's an obsolete unit, so I'm guessing the answer is "no". In which case, is there there an equivalent, or near equivalent (that may involve X-over modification) that can be obtained? cheers Mel |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Hi Mel,
The drop in alternative (from a couple of years ago) is a TW025A0. Best wishes, Greg |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Thanks Greg,
but the inevitable follow-up question is: where can I get one? Falcon Acoustics don't have any, stating that, "Audax have discontinued selling to the Retail Market!" Pah! cheers Mel |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Audax stopped the manufacture of hi-fi drive units in Spring 2005.
SEAS 27TFF (H831) may be a suitable alternative as far as I can tell, but may need crossover changes to suit. Last edited by petercom; 11th April 2006 at 01:30 PM. |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Thanks Peter,
to put you in the picture, I'm trying to revive an old pair of WAD KLS4's (a 'stagger-tuned' standmount, derived I think, from the KLS3) which sounds very good in my small room, but one has a damaged tweeter. In the spirit of this being a hobby, I would like to track down a suitable (and importantly, available) alternative to the Audax tweeters. Is this a feasible idea, or am I unlikely to find anything suitable? I don't mind re-engineering the enclosures and messing about with the X-over. What are the most important parameters of the tweeter that should be matched? cheers Mel |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Hi Peter,
I'm really interested in your suggestion because although I prefer the fabric tweeter on my KLS3's to the later gold dome option, I've never been totally happy with the sound. Attached is the spec sheets for the Audax TW025M1. Please can you comment further on the suitability of the Seas 27TFF(H831)? Thankyou. Best wishes, Greg |

Re: WAD KLS3 tweeter
Hi Mel,
Yes, I'd found that but I thought the spec sheet might be helpful to you and I have more faith in Peter's judgement on suitability than my own ability to interpret and cross reference the specifications Best wishes, Greg |
