ScanSpeak 2010 in Pro9TL by Falcon
Hi there,
I wonder if anyone has tried substituting old Audax tweeters with say ScanSpeak 2010 in Pro9TL's? What changes in the Xover would be necessary? Both my Audaxes died some time ago and I can purchase 2010's here in Poland. Anyway, Pro9TL's do not seem to be mentioned much on this forum. I built mine back in 1977. In the meantime I upgraded the Xover with Solens and Mills. I'd be grateful for some clue. Wieslaw Lipowski, Poland |

Re: ScanSpeak 2010 in Pro9TL by Falcon
Hi Wieslaw,
Sorry I didn't see your post before! Did I send you the AB mod a while ago, http://homepage.ntlworld.com/richard...es/Pro9mod.gif Yes, I tried Scanspeak and Morrel (I think) tweeters in mine but didn't like them. The Scans were definitely D2010 19mm and probably completely wrong for the xover. Fortunately they are the exact ones for the Proac clones so I sold them to my brother who built a pair. I'm on my 2nd pair of Pro9s, first in 1977 then these built in 1991. A few years ago I upgraded the Audax tweeters to the latest version which I think is worthwhile TWO 25AO, http://www.audax.fr/main8.html Rich |

Re: ScanSpeak 2010 in Pro9TL by Falcon
Dear Richard,
Yes, that is correct, I got your AB mod a few years ago and I did add the 3uF to the Xover as per the prom9od.gif, thanks for that once again. I made the change with Solens. The D2010 19 mm really do not behave properly in my PRO9TL which I built back in 1977. The sound seems congested and too bright even when I put another 3 or 4 ohm resistors in series with them. And what do you think about Vifas? Falcon seems to recommend them for PRO9TL, as the Auadax TWO25AO can be difficult to obtain nowadays. Thanks again for you post. I was beginning to lose hope anyone would react for my entry, even though the PRO9TL are the British origin. Best regards Wieslaw Lipowski |
