Default Tannoy dust caps

Hello all,

I have removed the dust caps from my HPDs. My reason was that I far prefer the look of my Cheviots with the grills on, but as with most grills, they dull the sound a bit. I thought that with the dust caps removed but the grills on, I might get the same sound but with the better looks. To my surprise, they actually sound significantly better. They don't sound much brighter but through the upper midrange and treble, they sound more open and better focused than before.
Anyway, I am pleased with the result and I now know why Tannoy stopped fitting them some years back. The only drawback is that they now look dreadful with the glue line and two-tone faded cones but as i will be using them with the grills on, it does not really matter.

Phil.
