Hadcock rebuild - information needed please
hello one and all - please excuse any ignorance (present or implied) in the following statement/questions:
I am rebuilding an early (aluminium arm tube) GH228 - so far I've turned up a new mounting for the bearing pin, sourced a counterweight and made a new mounting plate incorporating chassis sockets so I can use ordinary interconnects. I am now thinking that before attemting the rewire, that I might change the armtube for a bit of (316?) stainless tubing, and convert it to GH242 spec - amongst other questions, I am having trouble getting info on the following: what spec & guage/wall thickness SS tube do Hadcock use? what does the stock bias weight weigh, and would this need to be heavier with a higher mass armtube? (obviously I'll tweak the counterweight to suit) do you still need to use damping compound with an SS armtube? cartridge will be a Reson Reca, which I believe is fairly high compliance, TT is a JVC TT71 (currently in a JVC QL plinth) any/all information/help would be greatly appreciated - there must be other Hadcock owners who've done this sort of thing.. thanks in advance - MH Last edited by MotherSky; 23rd September 2011 at 06:58 AM. |
