Problems with WD
Hi there
For a few days I have been having trouble getting into World Designs website. Surprisingly, as you can now see, I can do it easily from my son's PC upstairs. Whatever I use, Opera, Internet Explorer and others, I still can't see even your home page or anything. I do not seem to have any problems getting into other forums or websites. What should I do? Am I the only one to have such problems at the moment, or are there any other WD members around the world who have similar difficulties?

Re: Problems with WD
Are the operating systems both the same on both computers - eg. XP ?
This is a long shot but .............................. What about the firewall on your computer - could it be blocking the WD IP site address ? Also, check browser "security" - it may be seeing the WD site in a "bad" way somehow. Check IE security - set it to "medium" - I have found this often makes "inaccessible" secure-sites "accessible". Are "cookies" turned off ? |

Re: Problems with WD
Proxy server links inside a browser are another way to disable access! I see this often - the proxy link is to a University server and is used to access study material. When another user tries to get to some other site the link is then attempted through the Uni proxy and does not work!

Re: Problems with WD
I checked the firewall and all my browsers' security. But, I don't know how to check IE security.
I am afraid something wrong must have happened to WD's setting regarding the connection to Central-Eastern European countries. I see the WD Forum page looks quite different now from how it looked just a couple of weeks ago. Cookies are not turned off. The operating system on my PC is Windows XP. I have full access from my friend's PC using Vista, as well as from other using XP. I checked [tracert] and it showed the signal stops in London. If you wish I can send the full tracert report for you to work out. Yesterday I wrote to WD asking for some assistance. I wrote to The Polish Telecom about the failure, but they have not replied so far. If it were not for Guardster, I couldn't have an access at all. Quote:

Re: Problems with WD
Hi Weislaw,
I certainly can't add anything technical to help except to say that I have 100% access here in Spain. |

Re: Problems with WD
If you can log in from your son's computer, but not from yours, then the issue is something blocking access to the forum on your computer.
We haven't changed anything here! |

Re: Problems with WD
Hi Wieslaw,
Try flushing the DNS cache, Click; Start Click; Run Type; cmd Press; enter Type; ipconfig/flushdns Press; enter you should get a confirmation of successful flush Rich |

Re: Problems with WD
I was afraid you would write something like that.
My son uses UPC TV cable connection to the Net while I use the Polish Telecom, However, I hope you are right as I suppose the problem will be easier to solve if sth in my PC is to blame. I will have to get it checked out. Now I have access to all sites but WD itself. Without Guardster, I would not be able even to see WD Home Page, not to mention log into the forum. I am still hopeful. Although the "failure" happened all of a sudden, things can always un-happen suddenly as well, can't they?
