Default Rustling sound on new tube

Hi, I notice some rustling sound on some new kt88 tubes, during initial start up and now and again after warming up the amp. I have cleaned the sockets, I tapped gently both tubes on the offending channel and found the tube that was causing the rustling sound. The question being is this a faulty tube? I never had such problems with the previous tubes the day before.

I have switched off the amplifier now and will put the offending tube to the other channel later to check to see if the problem follows the tube or stays to the socket where the tube was.

Hi Chris
"The question being is this a faulty tube?"
Yes, it should not be noisy at all. Get it changed by the supplier. If there are any arguments just quote "not fit for purpose".
Any good supplier will not argue.

Hi Chris, as John said, but some time ago I too had a set of new KT88 tubes from Watford valves, one began glowing red, moved over to the other channel, same valve glowing red, contacted Watford valves who might just as well said p**s off, never will I deal with them again, on Richards recommendation I used Hot Rox.
