Default Pink floyd

Is it just me, or do most other artists struggle to get as good a recording as floyd?
Like the music or not, the recordings are fantastic!

Most of Floyd's stuff was recorded on valve in the studio so your amp will work great with it i am listening to Floyd on my single ended headphone amp with the best tweak i know but you have to roll it

I read nick masons book a while ago, some good insites into there recording practices.

If i want to show of my system, its always a floyd recording that will demonstrate detail the best.
Then chuck on some led zep and its all different.
If only zep was recorded as well

Yep, Led Zep has **** recording/mixing quality.

I am also a die-hard Floyd fan and agree their stuff demonstrates good valve PP amps well. Most SE amps run out of breath....... (OK, I've ducked!)

I understand that the live 'Pulse' album was recorded on a Ferrograph rescued from a skip, rebuilt and revalved. Every concert from the 94 world tour was recorded on it so at no point were the band thinking about any specific performance being set up for the definative recording which might have effected their performance on the day.

I was at Earls Court. front row, centre stage. So close, my missus started to visually flirt with bassist, Guy Pratt it's ok, she's still with me.......just.

Best wishes,

Greg

Have there been any good re-issues or re-masters of Zep 1 - 4 either on CD or, more to the point, on vinyl? All mine are original copies from when they were released and have suffered from my enthusiasm over the years.

Diverse Vinyl....... that's more dodgy than potential paedophiliac artwork. I've not yet had one of their pressings I've found satisfactoy. 'Pressings' is not intended to be a pun.

Best wishes,

Greg
