Default PXX burn-in?

Just replaced Mundorf M-cap Supreme with Soniqs PXX in cross-over. Ambiguous results. On the +ve side, there's more detail and the new caps are nicely musical. On the -ve side there's bass bloom. Where bass thwacks hit me in the solar plexus, they now reverberate around the room and decay pretty slowly. My guess is that the new caps take time to burn in, but I wonder if I'm right. Anyone with experience of PXX know if they tighten up in the bass over time?

Thanks

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Give it some time. Your experience is typical of new caps. I'm sure it'll settle down.

Best wishes,

Greg

Agreed, the effects of changing caps is different depending on the caps involved but the most common thing I've noticed is a "lack of focus" with new caps. If still in doubt, then swapping back to the old caps after a couple of weeks will tell you if there was an improvement.

May I ask, where in the crossover you put those caps in? In the tweeter, or in the bass section?

Thanks Greg and Richard, they burn in as I write. Wieslaw - it's on the tweeter, which is interesting!
