Default Begging Letter

Hi everyone
As most of you know or don’t know, bulletin boards/websites do not run on air they have to be paid for. This World Design one for instance costs approx £300 p.a. So to that end, on behalf of Matthew, I am taking it on myself to ask for donations.
We have somewhere in the region of 3000 members and if all of you gave £1.00 we would be very flush, but of course that is not the case!
So it will probably be down to the active few to offer funds or not.
All I can say is without funds this website will probably disappear sometime soon.
I hope that this “sticky” is taken in the spirit in which it is written ie a begging letter, and that you can see your way to donating to the upkeep fund.
Thank you in advance.

John

And we need input from most to make this work, I would be willing to donate to keep this forum going but not to help the ars holes who will not contribute anything, money or input, perhaps a small fee for joining the forum would be possible, for future members and present. Bob

What about adverts?
Some forums seem to carry them.
I think a joining fee is a non starter, why would people give money to a forum in which they have nothing invested?

Phil.

I'd contribute a reasonable sum (£10) to keep the forum going.

As to how ?

PayPal would seem an easy way.

PS Payment sent to Matthew by PayPal.

Many thanks to Richard for prettying up my abysmal attempts to get things right on the BB. I must admit I am not very au fait with some things.

I have to admit I am not very keen on the idea of adverts on the Forum. You only have to look on one or two others to see that they detract from the whole idea of the forum - interrupting threads and the like. Similarly I do not think that a joining fee is a good idea, it will just put people off and may give some the idea that we are a bit "elitist". That we most certainly do not want. We want people to feel that they are welcome here.
I feel we must leave people to donate what they can or cannot afford.
Believe me writing the "begging letter" was long thought about. No one likes to ask for money, but in these times needs must and I hope all understand my reasons for doing so.
Thank you in advance for any contributions

John
