Default Watford Valves

Hi everyone

Had call to use Watford Valves twice in the last 6 weeks - once for rectifiers 5u4GB when a 5U4GB EH failed dramatically in my 6550 - and again for new valves for the cheap Goldbaile 2A3 SET that I picked up from ebay. Both times delivery was within 48 hours.

for the SET I replaced chinese 12AU7 with 'Los Gatos' 12AU7A - much better, more detail, better colour and 'life'. Secondly I replaced the supplied 2A3s with Sovteks (£18 ea. plus VAT) and the difference is even greater - more life, better timbre, lots of detail and.......... much less hum! (I'd previously tried to aedjust out the hum with the supplied 2A3s and failed - got it down to barely audible at the listening seat - now it is head in speaker time without further adjustment). Only downside - Sovtek 2A3 doesn't meet the daughter 'disco' criterion - no violent blue glow with orange highlghts - but the music bounces.

I'd rate Watford's service now as topnotch - every power valve tested - and a quick turn around (which wasn't always the case in the past).

What do you think??

Jerry

I've used them a number of times with no problems at all. Service is quick, the valve are properly packed and I have had no quality issues to date.
