Default Help finding KEL84 build instructions

Hello all.

I am a completely new to tube amps, having just purchased a second hand KEL84 amp. I believe the PCB is issue 2. I just wondered if anybody could sell me a copy of the build instructions as I wish to do a few modifications to it. I really appreciate any help offered. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.
You’ll love the amp, I bought one last year from a forum member to use in a second system and it’s great. Thinking of using it as the main amp.
Good luck, everyone on here will help with queries and they/are very knowledgeable too (far more than I)
Martin

Hello All,

Thanks for replying to my post.

Yes it does sound a great amp. This is my first tube amp, having used solid state NAD equipment in various permutations for years and it does sound great!!

Hopefully, I'll be upgrading the capicitors and just having a little fiddle with things to try and gain a better understanding of how tube amps work. It looks like the start of a very interesting hobby!

Again , many thanks for your help
Ian

Ian, you would do better putting your attention to the power supply, the better the supply, IE less ripple, and smoother DC, the better the amplifier will sound, so, fast recovery diodes in the HT supply and low ESR capacitors for better smoothing, even by passing the main smoothing capacitors with small ceramics, this should show a much cleaner and more detailed sound, try it, you will not be disappointed. Remember the golden rules - "Only do one mod at a time"
Don't bend component leads hard against the PCB - This is HiFi not rockets.
If in doubt ask!
