LCR caps

If anyone is interested in replacing their HT capacitors, Watford Valves has just sent an email with an offer (ends this Monday) on NOS LCR capacitors:

*LCR-100UF+100UF/450V Radial Can
*LCR-100UF/450V Radial Can
*LCR-220UF/385V Radial Can
*LCR-32UF+32UF/450V Radial Can "

Trying to remember if it is the 32+32uF inside my 1995 K5881PSE, pushing 30 years old now.

Is there actually any point, other than fitting the size, and authenticity, to getting NOS which might be as old as the originals?

They have not been inside a hot amp, but on the other hand, I thought being charged-up was good and discharged bad for electrolytics.

Hi Alastair,

Good info for anyone wanting vintage caps but you need 500V as the mains TX is 350V into a ss bridge. The circuit shows 100uF each side of the choke so probably 2 separate caps. Plenty of new stock 100uF 500V at RS for not a lot of money

I recall that in the original description they were consciously designed them to run in the "leeway" over the nominal voltage.
