Default Prevention is better than cure - Building an Amp Monitor

You read many threads in this and other forums of amps smoking because of component break-down. I guess, if certain circuit values are continuously being monitored, you can prevent further damage at quite an early stage.

This got me thinking about the possibility of building some sort of amplifier health monitor. The question is, which values should I monitor?

Any ideas which values are crucial for proper amplifier operation?

Any ideas are more then welcome.

Stefan

Oh dear!
No do not bother
Therein lies lies the slippery path toward insanity. If you are going to worry about failure you may as well take to your bed and die of bed sores.
After all if you have a car,can you predict by monitoring tyre pressures can you predict when you are going to get a puncture or have your windscreen hit by a stone or bird. The cost of monitoring will very likely exceed the cost of the amplifier by many times

If you can explain to me how you are going to determine when, say, a valve will fail you will be a multimillionaire in no time.
Just to pick valves, the reasons for failure a legion, even to the point where the valve decides it is Friday the 13th and says to itself "time to fail"

Hi John

Thanks for your reply . I see your point, and knowing where it is coming from, I will not pursue my idea further. I just was curious if something of the sort did exist.

Thanks Stefan
