Default 300B SE Amp

300B SE Amp

Many members are experienced builders. Please think back to your earlier days of knowledge and ability and vote as you would see fit for the future direction of WD. This may be slightly different to your own requirement today.

Thumbs up Re: 300B SE Amp

I would vote YES, as it is a must have in a valve kit range.

Yes, but it should have somthing to distinguish it from the crowd, as the poll says, there are a lot about. Parafeed, Loftin White, DRD, Choke input supply, amorphous transformers, Tx coupled, Dave/James Akido drive etc.

Yes...there should be one in the range,as it will satisfy a lot of people's demands for an affordable taste of proper high-end audio, even though my own personal choice, for various reasons, was a PP 300B,mainly to satisfy the needs for slightly higher power and control for a set of ESLs.

Yes but keep it affordable simple and safe for first timers, but at the same time don't clone AN Kit 1.

Good points....I never liked the finish etc on the AN kit 1,which looked a tad too hair-shirt even for my likings, and certainly wouldnt have gone down well with the other half.

I think the main problem now is the vast influx of cheap and relatively well made chinese amps, and thus any kit has to be pitched into a relatively small market that wants better quality and the ability to tweak the components, without excess cost.

Hi Alex,

You can be sure that Paul's comments do not relate to the appearance of an Audionote kit. Without doubt he'll be referring to the circuit. When you've seen one of Paul's amps, you'll completely understand what I mean

Best wishes,

Greg

Bang on. Actually I have seen an Kit1. It's not the look that I am comenting on, but the 6sn7 cascade Flesh and Blood Je Labs AN kit1 American table top radio circuit clones. Too many samey midrich valves.
