Default Music To Show Off Your System

I know I can already hear a few of you groan when some "audiofool" starts a thread about music which shows off their system's capabilities but hear me out. (I DO realise the reason we love this hobby is not to play music simply because it is well recorded even though it is dross!) My latest find that shows off my World Designs rig to its best is the soundtrack to Bullitt!!!!!!!

Supercool 1968 Steve McQueen movie has a soundtrack that was rerecorded in 2000 withLalo Schifrin and the Köln WDR Big Band. Very spacious, dynamic, gets my KT88's singing and definitely NOT dross!!!

Best regards
Phil.

I really like that idea and I think it's very cool.

Bullett?

Music recorded for films has a different standard to CD, I believe. DSD?

Are 21st Century (sounds grand) recordings better than what we had in the 60s onwards?

A very good question Andrew! I've been ripping my CDs to flac recently which has caused me to listen to loads of stuff I'd forgotten about and not played on my present system. Two albums from around the turn of the century(!) which I think are well recorded pop are The Script The Script and Robbie Williams I've Been Expecting You. A couple of tracks from other albums worth a listen are Eva Cassidy Fields of Gold and Prince A Case of You on A Tribute to Joni Mitchel
