Thank you for the announcement, pre65!

The SONIQS PIO Paper In Oil capacitors are now available from our catalog: http://wduk.worldomain.net/acatalog/Capacitors.html

In the search for a superior alternative to the Jensen PIO caps that we used to sell we have managed to obtain these beautifully made (and sounding) Paper In Oils from the UK's premier hand wound capacitor manufacturer.

Like the SONIQS SAX PP capacitors, these offer a purity and natural clarity of sound but with the added advantage of internal oil damping that reveals every subtlety of the original performance.

You can use these as coupling capacitors in existing designs or as replacements in vintage amps. Who knows, they might even perk up a transistor amp!

These are aluminium foil with a paper dielectric which we have found offers the best performance for relatively low cost. Lead out wires are tinned copper.

IMO tin foil doesn't necessarily sound 'better' unless you are using silver lead out wires where the silver can be soldered directly to the tin using, of course, silver loaded solder. We are working on an uprated design for these at the moment but they will be much more expensive!

could you please tell me if these could be used to good effect in the 84, and if so where?

cheers

Hi John
they would be ideal to try a coupling caps to replace C8/9/10/11,
PIOs work well in this position, you should notice an improvement over the standard orange drops

Hi john and jake,

i will be very interested to hear your findings regarding these caps in kel84 as my p10 are getting a little old in the tooth now, they have been in for 6 years and probably getting close to needing changing ( a max of 52000 hours on time eek!! ).

Regards

Jim
