Hi David, Wieslaw, All

Please be aware that KT88 is a current model to which World Designs holds rights. In fact we hold rights to the "historical" as well as currently available models.

I am very patient (and indeed, generous) with people who desire design particulars - especially for currently unsupported models. But it is only good manners to be in touch with me to let me know about it, maybe give a reason and to afford me at least the opportunity to say "no". (I haven't yet.)

Greg has spent a lot of time systematising WD circuit diagrams and build instructions (thank you Greg, as ever) and initial requests can be directed to him as well as myself. These designs are not, repeat not, "public property" and I sometimes feel they are treated as such.

Wieslaw, I know you are an enthusiastic supporter wanting only to help (and don't get me wrong - this spirit is appreciated!) - but please, will you redirect requests for copyright material to Greg or me in future. Thank you for your ongoing support.

David, would you do me the courtesy of being in touch to let me know what use you are making of the KT88 circuit diagram; I understand that you are effectively "trade". Forgive me if I'm wrong, but tell me about it.

Thank you,

Matthew

Hi Matthew,
I will reply in greater length when I get a moment. But I just wanted to say my post referred to the old KIT88, not the current WD KT88.

Hey Bob, You sure about that? WD could hold, for example, exclusive licences for commercial manufacture of the designs while the design copyrights could still be vested in the designers. Just a thought....

That is not generally how it works, anything you do while working for a company is the property of that company. It does not matter whether it is physical or intellectual work, the employee get wages, the employer gets the "work".
If you work on the production line for BMW you don't get to take a car with you when you leave, it is no different with design work.
No company would allow this, otherwise the designer could leave and start making an identical product in competition with the original manufacturer. There are generally clauses in the contract of employment saying as much. Obviously the WAD/WD amps would be designed on a 1 off contract basis but the same rules would apply.

Phil.

I don’t understand why this has become an ongoing discussion. In his first paragraph above, Matthew (proprietor of WD) has clearly stated they hold the rights to the current WD models and all historical designs. That will be all WAD designs back to around KLS1 and KLP1, K5881. There may have been a few earlier models.
