Versions of 25T loudspeakers

I'm slightly confused! I'm sure that, when I heard a demo of the 25T before I built a pair a few years ago, there were three versions of this LS. The tweeter in the "lowest" spec was the SEAS 29TFF. The XL upgrade, which I bought, is the SEAS T29CF001. I've browsed through all the WD stuff I had from that time and can see no reference to another version - and one that I think Peter Comeau demonstrated - which used the SEAS T29CF002, and which was a great deal more expensive; I seem to remember that the dome of the unit was a bronze colour.

There's no reference to this version in the build instructions I have (in respect of the X-over) or the sales brochure that WD produced at the time. Perhaps it slipped into a void just before WD changed hands. Either that, or the effects of age are worse than I thought.

Can anybody shed any light?

The final version of WD25T was fitted with Seas T25CF002. My understanding is that these are no longer available.

They are advertised by Wilmslow Audio and Falcon Acoustics and perhaps others. I have no information about the crossover unit if this tweeter was used, but it must exist somewhere.

I think this is the one you want. It´s the one I used with my Millenniums anyway. I don´t know if there were any further versions.

Many thanks VtM! I take it that the reference near the end of the article has to do with the size of the components. If not, what?

You´ve lost me. What exactly do you mean ? Where he talks about the baffle area ? - he is comparing with the standmount.

Actually, I presume Edwin is referring to the last paragraph where Peter hints at the 'icing on the cake' by which I think he means the improved performance to be had by enclosing the crossover board external. This is nothing to do with the size of the components. It is to do simply with improved sound when the crossover is external rather than enclosed within the speaker cabinet.

Ah, I see. Mine are external but no way of knowing if it´s worthwhile soundwise. In my case it was good because it allows me to hide the Xover boxes under the bureau stood between my speakers and then extend the speaker cables whioch would have been a tad short otherwise.
