Default Sticking CD Drawer Marants CD 67 Help

Hi All
Sticking Drawer Marants CD 67 Drawer
Anyone got an idea on this
when pressing the open button the Drawer only opens half wayout pressing it again it will not full close so disc wont spin up
But if I rock the tray by pressing the open/close button so that the tray is rocking back and forth it’s momentum will fully open or fully close the tray and the disc spins up and plays fine
I have replaced the Belt with new one so it’s not that yet the tray does seem a bit stiff at the end of travel in both in and out extremes
And suggestions on how to fix this

Maybe have a look and see if there's anything obvious blocking it. Otherwise some silicon lube if it's dried up over the years

Well I acquired an other Marants 67 today at the knock down price of a tener worth it just for the Tray loading system I thought

turns out this player is the 67 mark 2 and it works fine And as the mark 2 and the standard 67 use the same Tray loader

I thought to try the sticking 67 tray in the 67 mark 2 and it open and closes fine returning it back into the 67 and it sticks again so can’t be the motor as i furst thought anyone have a idea as to this problem

It would seem to me you either have a physical obstruction causing the drawer to jam or, if relevant, there is a logic malfunction in any controlling electronics.

If your new player works well, why not simply use that?

Hi Greg
Yes could be the logic chip perhaps or a faulty cap it’s just annoying the player can still be used manually though
would just need to fix a tab on the drawer to be able to pull it back open so all is not lost with the player it lives on still

Hi Colin,
Most unlikely to be the electronics.
Replacing the belt is only half the problem, you need to clean the drive pulleys as well preferably with meths, and also check for oxidised grease on the tray sliding surfaces. Clean it all off and adda smear of something like "Lubriplate" which is a white grease a bit thinner than silicone grease.

Hi Richard/John
Yep did the teeth check and cleaning
If I keep pressing the open/close switch the drawer will slide in and out with enough momentum to fully open or close it and start playing

But just one press on the button the drawer will stick in both directions just before end of travel as if the motor is not turning enough times

If the Drawer is not full closed by hand there is a clicking sound when pressing the play button and a no disc display until you open it again or gives the disc a light touch with finger

When I tried the drawer in the other 67 mark 2 player I just connected the open/close motor and held the drawer system it in my hand but it worked fine opens and closes all the way

Col, I had a similar (but different) problem after changing the belt and tray cog on my CD40. Even though I'd cleaned (inc the new belt with IPA) and lubed everything carefully the machine gave a screech at switch on and I could see the belt was slipping on the motor pulley. Changing the belt back to the old one, which seemed slightly stiffer rubber compound, cured this instantly. I'd suggest trying the old belt or the one from the other working player in case yours is slipping.

Richard
Yes I will try as you suggested with the belt and see how it goes I even got a new motor thinking it was to blame
but even if it was I can’t fit it at the moment as I need my Torx screw driver set I have just ordered
