Default Re: Sad news regarding Hifi World Magazine

Sorry to see it go. It was always had something the mainstream hifi press lacked. The first one I bought 1993-94-ish with the 300B amp in it turned out the most expensive magazine I have ever bought. Until that point I had been firmly decided that my Cyrus1 (still going strong) was the one-off lifetime amplifier, and there was absolutely no justification for getting anything else.

Life has gone to rack and ruin ever since. Tried hi-fi anonymous meetings, homoeopathy, hypnotism, aversion therapy but nothing works. Having to look at a bigger house to accomodate all my must-have acquisitions.

Some time ago, we looked at a small Castle in the west highlands at £275.000 starting price, it was fantastic. Now that would suit your needs Alistair . Bob

I first starting buying HiFi Answers in the early seventies as a student and loved looking at all the nearly identical silver boxes... and occasionally What HiFi. When Answers ceased publication I think I went onto Audiophile. When that died I moved onto HiFi World (Noel Keywood wrote for all these I think). I collected every issue until my divorce prompted a trip to the tip. Now HiFi World has gone. So sad.
