I see this has been added to the catalogue. I presume that this will fit the KEL84?

a question regarding the tape out - I know that the module doesn't feature tape monitor, but is it possible to wire up the tape switch as normal? i.e does the module simply replace (function wise) the 6/2 selector switch?

You can add it to KEL84. The tape switch will work as normal if you wire it up with the existing cables though some might feel it disrupts what is otherwise a clean signal path to do so, so if you don't need off-tape monitoring leave it out.

We do plan to have an off-tape monitor version available in 5 weeks time.

I guess by looking at the module that to wire it up to the old WAD preII some small jumpers are needed from the phono sockets to the board.

That's right. We have adopted a phono socket spacing that we can use on a variety of products, including the new WDKEL84 and PRE3. Unfortunately there was no standardisation on older WAD products so we couldn't make a board to suit them.

The spacers we supply bring the PCB close to the phono sockets from which you can use short wire links from the centre signal pins to the solder roundels on the PCB.

I am a newbie here and have followed this thread with interest.
I would like to purchase the Input Relay Switching Kit in order to add input switching to an amplifier that has a volume pot but only one input.

Why are there two options on the ordering page for the relay board?

I read that the board is meant to derive power from the heater voltages of the World Design amps. In this case, the board will be in a stand alone box so I need to make a power supply for the board. What should I do?

I can order bits from RS and have good soldering skills. I previously assembled 2 WAD KAT88 amplifiers a few years back. However I don't understand electronics enough to know how to make a power supply.

The STD kit is for those who already have an integrated amplifier but want to change it to relay switching.

The UPGRADE kit is for those, like you, who have a power amp but want to add more inputs. This kit includes everything you need, bar a power supply, such as phono sockets, input switch etc.

The kit can take power from any 6.3 volt DC heater source that can supply an extra 30mA without the voltage dropping below 6v. Most DC heater supplies can do this without any difficulty.

As you want to put it in a separate box you will need a power supply that can deliver between 5v and 7v DC at 30mA. Have you thought of one of the 'plug-top' mains adapter power supplies (as used for mobile phone chargers etc)? We can supply a suitable regulated 6v power supply of this type for £9.50.
