Re: burning in your Caps
I wouldn't think of building a cap rack.
I still find the changing sound of new components quite interesting. But I suppose the novelty wears off eventually. |

Re: burning in your Caps
People always refer to improvements over the fisrts weeks or months of a new cap. Has anyone ever experienced deterioration?
Best regards, IDM |

Re: burning in your Caps
Yep! electrolytics 'dry-out' - just look at some caps after 40 years of use, bulging and swollen and then they blow. The sound quality certainly deteriorates after that.
Sometimes they don't last that long. Capacitor abuse is not a crime but when rated at e.g. 630 volts it is daft to go very much above that for very long. There has been some dissatisfaction on this BB about Jupiters but I like them and use them, a lot. They have cooked nicely next to other hot amp bits and not given up on me yet. WKZs irritate me the way I find I always need 10 minutes before they sound right. OTOH, IMHO they don't take much more than that. |
