Forum Funding 2023
Hello all,
Well once again it is my pleasure to ask for forum funds. I appreciate that 2022 has been very hard for all concerned and probably 2023 is going to be just as bad. All I can say is if you can spare some small donation it will be very much appreciated by Matthew. Please look down the back of the settee and the like Thank you John |

Re: Forum Funding 2023
John, I always contribute to the forum and will donate again shortly, sadly, it is only a small number of regulars that do donate and I thank all who do, this may have been said, but how much does it cost to run this forum ? Bob

Re: Forum Funding 2023
"but how much does it cost to run this forum ?"
The question is entirely valid, Bob, and thank you for posing it, but the answer is the same as before! I don't keep separate accounts for the forum but I do pay the bills (and have the pleasure of accepting any donations). But I do know that it costs a great deal more than it would if we set up a new forum now. The forum runs on ancient software and it needs tlc from a specialist provider every now and again. I have investigated the idea of transferring all the data to a new platform - which would have negligible running costs - but this is not remotely feasible. So we're stuck with what we've got. Since I took over WD until 3 years ago, World Designs (that's me) bore the entire costs of running the forum. A simple issue of pro bono publico. Under pressure from colleagues and good friends of the forum, in 2020 I permitted John to invite contributions from anyone who wanted to help. In that year, when the campaign "launched", contributions probably exceeded costs, in 2021 probably matched them and in 2022 certainly needed topping up. I'm not prepared to add another layer of book-keeping to our accounting systems, so I'm never going to be able to give accurate figures for actual costs and members should note that I will keep the forum going (as long as it's technically possible) without ANY contributions from members. I am, of course, enormously grateful to those who donate. I think we all are. Donations will remain publicly unacknowledged unless the donor wants to post about it - but I'm always glad when this happens pour encourager les autres! Matthew |

Re: Forum Funding 2023
Hi,
I am happy to make another donation too. It's been a while since my last contribution, so it's only fair. Many thanks for keeping this all going. Neil.
