Hi Peter, Rob,

This valve was around in the days of Kit88 which ran it's op valves hard, (mine were dissipating 40W+ before I re-biased it) and may be usable with the original Kit88 bias (are you still running yours Rob?).

It looks quite similar to their 6ca7, used in Kel34, which was a beefy el34 type valve,

I've never heard KT90s and would also like to hear what any users think of them,

I lowered the bias after going through a number of the jj's wad supplied -
am using the EH kt88 and was thinking of using the 90 and returning the bias to the jj killer point or leaving the bias as it is and let the valves have an easy life.
Have read a couple of positive things on the asylum, but wanted a view from this bb .
On ebay they are being sold in frozen sets at about the same as a set of re-issue tungsols which I was considering buying.

It's something I do all the time!

Seriously, I suppose what I was getting at is why you would want to kluge a KT90 into an amplifier that can take a perfectly good KT88. Many listeners think that the Winged C Svetlana KT88 outperforms the EI KT90 in a KT88 amp.

'course you could design an amp round the KT90 characteristics, and several manufacturers have done so.

You might find this link interesting http://www.jacmusic.com/KT88/kt88.htm

I might give them a try in my wad 6550. I've still got a glow on one of the tung sols even after re-biasing..so they could do with a change.

Hi All

The KT90 was made to replace the KT88 so that they ran a lot cooler due in part to the way they are constructed and the KT90 can be pushed a lot harder than they KT88. I find that the KT66 and KT88 run to hot for me. I believe that there is also a kT99 that had been manufactured at one time.
