Kit 6550 integrated instruction manual
Can anyone supply me with the build manual for the WAD Kit 6550 integrated amp? I have recently retrieved a partly built amp from the attic, but have not been able to find the original construction plans.

Re: Kit 6550 integrated instruction manual
Here you are
I've also got the upgrading notes reg. WAD Kit6550, but can't upload them as the file is too large. I can send it at your email address, though.

Re: Kit 6550 integrated instruction manual
Hi both and welcome Neil,
It's worth noting the 6550 cathode resistors R35/35/37/38 were increased from 500R on that original build sheet to 680R to lower plate dissipation as shown in the Jan 2002 upgrade article. You may find either in yours Neil depending on when it was supplied but may want to fit 680R to save the valves. |

Quote:
Here are some of the notes reg. upgrading: "KiT6550 basic version This amplifier has fine control of bass, concentrating on an infectious mixture of rhythm and detail. 'Underdog' by Turin Brakes, with its copious acoustic guitar strumming sounded warm and lucid, with the male vocals clear. Bass drum had a nice sharp 'thud' to it and treble was open and detailed. KiT6550 with Alps potentiometer The Alps pot added more bass response to the bottom-end and pushed the bass drum further back, and vocals further to the front of the sound stage. Imaging improved, too, with the accompanying guitar strumming more intricate on either side of the picture. KiT 6550 with Alps potentiometer and Black Gate capacitors The Japanese Black Gates, with their innate smoothness of sound, made the vocals richer and warmed up the guitar timbre. The sound was also slightly fuller bodied, creating a 'fatter' image through the 'speakers which added more involvement to the music. KiT6550 with Alps Potentiometer, Black Gate and Jensen capacitors The Full Monty upgrade resulted in a very involving sound, with a high degree of detail and a full and exact sound stage. Imaging was greatly improved and the mix became wholly cohesive and communicative. Upper band detail was excellent and the bass very tuneful and taut."

Re: Kit 6550 integrated instruction manual
Hi Neil, I have now printed the full build instructions for the KAT6550, the only difference is the KAT is single input with no volume control. If you PM me with your full address I will post to you, please do not post your address on this post as it is not private, the PM is. BOB
