Converting stand-mounters to floor-standers
Hi all
for my 2nd system, in the living room, I could buy some cheap floorstanders or convert a pair of Adire HE10s (a 2nd pair, having just sold the 1st on here) which sit on ugly stands to nicely finished floor-standers (inspired by Colin's fabulous work with ply). For a non-critical system is it simply a matter of getting the right box volume? Or is proportion vital (currently they are short and squat & I want tall, thin and narrow (or as thin as the drivers allow). Along the same lines, would it be absolutely essential to build the Zigmahorns (spelling?) 1.5m tall or could one get away with 1.1-1.2m say for purely aesthetic reasons. What would be the imapct of reducing them by 20% in height? Thanks Adrian |
