Default valve dampers

If its your sort of thing then this might help.
The same as whats sold on ebay, you pay a little more but get 50 rather than 8.

Hi Graeme, nice find m8.

Can anyone tell me the diameter of an 845 tube, a 6s*7 tube and a 12fm6 tube. I would go to franks or tube sites, but they are banned at work....

Just a word of warning! These rings are only spec'd up to 200 deg C - power valves go to 400 deg C +

I should think you'd be ok with the 6SN7 - I think it runs at something like 60-70 deg C. However I'm not so sure of the 845 !!

When i measured the temps on my ecf80 and el84 they were hitting 180 degrees, i think the ecf80 were less, cant remember.
I dont know what temps other valves run at. These are sold by various people on ebay, and supplied with some valve output cd players, but some power valves may get too hot, i dont know.
Ive not found any that rate higher, unless you want to pay £10 each for golden dragon dampers!

I guess these silicone rings will suit some people but not others.

Im still undecided whether there worth trying or not. They certainly fixed the microphony in colins mullard ecf80.

Apparantly Kalrez o rings, made of perflouroelastomer are rated up to 315 degrees.
the silicone ones should actually cope up to 250 apparantly.

what are these dampers meant to do ?

should they be needed or is there something wrong?

do they really do what they say they should do?

Surely, if a valve is 'microphonic' there is something wrong with the valve or the circuit ????

I tried pearl type on ecf80's,claims made by manufacturer not realised again, not really surprised to tell the truth.I recon that they might help mask a problem rather than solve it.
