Off Topic - DVD Player region adjustment
Off Topic Topic.
Can I pick your collective brains for some help? I have a Philips DVD763SA DVD player region 2 only. Does anyone know how it could be set multi-region? I did find this site: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks.ph...lips+DVD+763SA but it uses a "One-for-all" remote. I don't have one of these. Managing the ones I have is bad enough!! Any ideas? Many thanks. |

Re: Off Topic - DVD Player region adjustment
Where did you get the player from, I bought a Yamaha player years ago from Richer Sounds, its was advertised as multi region, but when it arrived it wasn't. That also needed a remote I didn't have. I asked Richer Sounds about it, and they said, that if all else failed, they would lend be the remote in question. But I ended up borrowing a Pronto remote control, that could send the required commands. Maybe there is someone near you that you could borrow the control from.

Re: Off Topic - DVD Player region adjustment
Thanks PhilN. I will try this when I get home.
NickG, I bought it in Capital Cameras in Crawley before they went under. I have never bought from Richer Sounds so I can't comment on that. Greg, perhaps one of us could bid on this and then become the DVD hacking guru! I still don't understand why there needs to be the concept of "multi-region". It wouldn't have anything to do with money by any chance? Surely, if a DVD has been released in the USA it is the (world-wide) public domain, and therefore we in any other region should legally be allowed to buy and play it. Discuss....... |

Re: Off Topic - DVD Player region adjustment
Hi FoxJT,
It is all purely down to money and control by those luvverly film producers in sunny Hollywood, making sure nothing is easy to do or get, by protecting their interests they reap maximum benefit. As one producer was heard to say at the Oscars sometime ago "We didn't spend all this American money to give Oscars away to foreign films" However with the simultaneous relaese this week of a film both world wide and on DVD this may change.
